Headford is set to receive an additional Garda officer for the area after a councillor’s years of hard work paid off, it was revealed this week.
Back in January, initial talks led to an agreement for two additional gardai on a temporary basis, however this was scrapped due to being ‘impractical’ and motions for a permanent position were made.
According to Councillor Andrew Reddington made the major announcement on social media this week as he revealed that the position for a new officer has been filled and hopes it will “will further enhance the excellent work of the current Gardaí”.
In the post he said: “I can confirm that Headford is set to receive an additional Garda. Since my election in 2019, I have consistently advocated for more support for the local Gardaí. I have always praised the dedication of the two Gardaí currently based in the town but I always emphasised the need for additional resources due to the vast area they cover.
