Check out this program from ARTE, a German TV channel, featuring Don Stiffe and Mike McGrath talking about Lough Corrib and the challenges of global warming and invasive species. The Homeplace Cafe features in the opening scenes, from one of Don’s supper nights in the Cafe.
Lough Corrib in Ireland’s wild west is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland. An area of great natural beauty, it is also a paradise for anglers. But climate change is a challenge for this delicate ecosystem as rising temperatures threaten fish species and bring more rainfall to an already very wet region.
As a responsible European public media, ARTE is committed to issues that are important to European citizens: combating inequality, whether social, cultural, economic, geographical, gender- or disability-related, and promoting sustainable development.
