Important update!
PROPOSED YOUTH CAFÉ FOR HEADFORD
So, back to the good news about the funding received under @galwaycountycouncil ’s Local Enhancement Programme!
Back in March we applied for funds to trial a Youth Café for the young people of Headford, and we’ve been awarded, under this scheme of grants, enough to do this for a couple of months over the summer (we hope!)
We’re delighted to be partnering with Solas Frc in developing this project, and we’re hoping to make it happen relatively soon, but a few things have to happen first.
Namely, we need to find a suitable premises in the town centre, then find a few willing volunteers, and have them Garda Vetted.
And after this, there’s a bit of policy development to be done, and we’ll need to buy some equipment (thanks to Galway Rural Development, we’ve already received some funding for this through SICAP, for which we are very grateful) and there’s probably other things we need to do that we’ve forgotten to mention here!
It’s a big enough project, on a small enough budget, but what we’re hoping is that if we can prove the need for something like this in Headford, we’ll be able to seek other core funding down the road.
In the meanwhile, if you’re interested in getting involved in some way, or even in attending a meeting about it in the coming weeks, send Solas a message (or you can message us here!) and we’ll make sure you’re kept up to date as we move forward!
This one is going to need a community push, folks, so please help spread the word!
Thanks!
