After the recent storm and the damage it caused, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our community.
Farmers and locals were out clearing debris and fallen trees to ensure roads were safe. Local Councillor Andrew kept everyone updated and shared vital information about agencies working tirelessly to remove fallen cables and restore power and water.
Local businesses stepped up in amazing ways—AC Tyres offered the use of their electricity to charge devices or fill flasks with hot water, Delany’s Mace welcomed people to fill hot water flasks and offered support, and Heneghan’s Hotel opened its doors for charging devices and internet access. Milkyway Playspace also stepped up by opening their doors to families, especially those with small children, who were still without power, offering them a warm and safe place to spend time.
Moyne Villa Football Club went above and beyond by opening its clubhouse every day, providing showers, internet, cooking facilities, charging stations, and water for anyone in need. Their volunteers greeted every single person with kindness, support, and a smile, ensuring no one felt alone during this difficult time.
We would also like to extend a huge thanks to the ESB Networks and Galway County Council workers for their mighty efforts to restore services and roads under extreme conditions. Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything you’ve done to help the community recover.
We know many people are still dealing with the aftermath—clean-ups, repairs, and ongoing power, phone, or water outages. But this storm has once again shown how strong and united we are as a community.
