Travel and Mobility Report Headford.

On Monday, 7th October, HADA representatives met with local TDs, Senators, Councillors, and Candidates to discuss the “Travel and Mobility in Headford and Environs Community Travel Survey Report”, detailing the feedback from the 498 respondents to the HADA Travel Survey and 425 respondents to the Reimagine Headford Community Survey.
The meeting highlighted issues raised by our community including the urgent need to upgrade the N84, improve bus services, and develop active travel infrastructure. With Headford’s growing population and severe traffic issues, ensuring the N84 is prioritised in the next Programme for Government and National Development Plan is critical.
Further to commitments made on the evening, we expect the politicians who attended, as well as those who sent their apologies, to stand with Headford and the communities to the east side of Lough Corrib. We’ve been assured that the two municipal districts of Tuam and Athenry-Oranmore can work together, and enquiries will be made to arrange a meeting with the National Transport Authority (NTA).
We urge everyone in Headford and the surrounding areas to read the report and share concerns regarding traffic and transport in our area with canvassing politicians in the coming weeks. Let’s ensure the N84 gets on the NTA’s development list and push for sustainable travel solutions for our community.
