YOUTH CAFE UPDATE ***
Hello Headford! This is just a brief update on what’s been happening since we initially posted about the proposed set-up of a Youth Cafe in Headford.
Since our first meeting last month, we’ve been working away on the planning side of things. Garda vetting for our volunteers is underway, we’ve visited the youth cafe in Ballinrobe (see the photos below-this is what it’s all about!), and came away with literally dozens of ideas and some very helpful advice!
Then, we met and talked through all of this, and made something of a plan as to how we move forward from here.
Safe to say, we have a great group of volunteers, and a heap of enthusiasm!
Our biggest obstacle, though, is PREMISES! We urgently need a dedicated large space, where young people can meet – so we’re appealing to any and everyone reading this post to PLEASE GET IN TOUCH, if you have or hear of anything that might be available and at a community rate?
We’re hoping to begin by running a community event in September or October, but for now, we’re taking a little break for August, and we’ll keep ye posted on any developments once September hits!
