Headford Tidy Towns Success

Good news for Headford in Tidy Towns 2024

The results of the SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition 2024 have been announced and the Headford Tidy Towns Group are celebrating their most successful year yet, having achieved 312 marks out of a possible 550. This year’s  result was up another 15 marks from 297 in 2023 and 284 in 2022.

Headford Tidy Towns was reactivated by a group of volunteers in 2017. It had not been active since 1997. The increased score, year on year, is down to the efforts of volunteers and the local community working towards a shared goal.

Headford Tidy Towns became a sub-group of Headford and District Association in 2024 in order to raise the group’s profile in our town, and this resulted in new volunteers.

The Tidy Towns adjudicators looked at Headford under 9 headings: Planning and Involvement, Streetscape & Public Places, Green Spaces and Landscaping, Nature and Biodiversity, Sustainability, Tidiness and Litter Control, Residential Streets & Housing Areas, Approach Roads and Streets & Lanes.

Special mention was given to Headford Lace Trial, Yarnbombers, Headford Community Garden and Headford Men’s Shed, amongst others.

The group are always looking for new faces to help keep Headford clean, inclusive and welcoming to all.
